Yorkville Olive Ranch

We grow: Olives for Olive Oil
We are in: Anderson Valley
Growing practice: Organic, not certified
You can buy it: Shops and Farmers Markets

The Yorkville Olive Ranch is located on scenic Hwy. 128, Marker 38.29, in southern Mendocino County. Our 1,200 olive trees are planted on south-facing bench land on either side of the old 1867 ranch house and stage coach inn pictured on our label. Our extra virgin olive oil is a field blend of the five Tuscan varieties we cultivate without pesticides or herbicides. In November we handpick our olives and take them within hours to the nearby frantoio or olive press where they are milled, and the oil is extracted from the paste without the use of heat or mats. Only estate-grown olives are used. Because our valley is subject to early frosts, we harvest at the start of November and that produces an oil that is high in polyphenols that give it its health-giving properties, a longer shelf life, and that typical Tuscan peppery finish.
